Racing began soon after the construction of the first successful petrol-fueled autos; before that time people raced in other vehicles such as horse-drawn buggies. The first race ever organized, by the chief editor of Paris publication Le Vélocipède, Monsieur Fossier, was on April 28, 1887 and ran 2 kilometers from Neuilly Bridge to the Bois de Boulogne. The first auto race in the United States took place in Evanston, Illinois on November 28, 1895 over an 87.48-km (54.36 mile) course, with Frank Duryea winning in 10 hours and 23 minutes, beating three petrol-fueled and two electric cars. The first trophy awarded was the Vanderbilt Cup.

Racing is unique amongst sports. The basic concept of racing has remained the same -- get from point A to point B before anybody else does. Although, going from 0-60mph in a couple of sec. might be nirvana for some people it is actually the adrenaline and thrill for the speed and feel the Boost!. But unlike other sports, the means and ways it is done is so varied whether it is a drag race, drifting around a track or doing stunts on the bikes, it provides one with so many opportunities to enjoy the sport. Thus, it also spawns a richness of history no other sport is capable of matching.

A primary focus is to create a huge photo archive containing all major national and international sports car races and to collect views of top of the line race cars in the field. Personal contributions have always been an essential part of this ambitious project, which is mainly a product of love to the sports car racing and is determined for all fans and photographers who like to share their own efforts or just browse the archives. Explore some of the cars and bikes that makes racing possible.
